On 16th July, Google has launched a new Maps version 2.0 under Navigation Category on Apple Store. Google Maps 2.0 for iOS runs on iOS 6 and above. It is believed that Google Maps are launched mainly to give a tough competition to Apple Maps. The Google Maps 2.0 claims to run on older Apple devices such as Apple iPhone 3GS. Till now it has reported to have more then 1000+ downloads from AppStore. Google Maps are more optimized for iPhone 5 then its previous versions.
The GUI of Google Maps 2.0 for iOS is more simple and more performance friendly than previous ones. Although it is not mentioned on iTunes but it has improved a lot of User Experience. This application is working smoothly on older devices as well. It also provides support for offline maps, which was not previously supported by Google Maps.
Google Maps 2.0 is having a feature called Public Transit, which provides the accurate information regarding the public transit system related to current location. It has been found that Google is using updated information for this purpose.
